Supermarket dresses and how to wear them old school

I love real vintage it makes me happy, but I find for everyday wear I'm worried I'll wreck it. So they real dealeo stuff comes out if I'm at a vintage fair or event. Let's have a chat about supermarkets, now they've cottoned on to the ever growing trend of vintage cuts, some go as far as to Use vintage patterns too! Here's my fave flavour take a look...
This is a sainsbury dress! It screams 1940 so I teamed her with the proper era hair and make up. I also added saltwater saddles in tan, and Bakelite bracelets.
Doing this stuff to my sainsbo dress made all the difference in the world. I can wear this out and happily feel I'm doing the era proud.

This takes me onto dress Two.

Just look at her in all her gingham loveliness. This one was shouting at me to be teamed up 50s western style and why not! Cowgal boots, wide plated belt and a western erstwilder brooch. jobs a good un!

My last and most favourite dress is a beautiful high neck Japanese style one.

I loved it as soon as I saw it and when I tried it on I knew I had to buy it. It's got a real 40s feel so I gave her the right era accessories. Wicker bag, cats eye sunnies, nude shoes and lacy gloves. I'm waiting on some cherry blossom hair clips! And it will be complete. If wear this with victory rolls for a more authentic look.

I like a supermarket, it's worth havin a rummage see what's about. You may find the perfect dress ;)

Body positivity

This is me
Look at my happy little face, it's like that because I've stopped caring about what others think of me. Yep you heard right I don't care if people stare at me, or laugh at me or don't like the way I dress.
My body is mine, there Are 100s of things that make me Leanda my body is one.
I hate the media with a passion, it's all about body/woman/slut/clothes shaming and it's ridiculous it has to stop. So recently  I decided  that it stops with me.
I control how I feel and react no one else, I'm done  letting others make me feel bad when I feel great.
I get it, I understand if you stand out you're an easy target for meanness. I've been guilty of sniggering behind my hand at what I'd class as a poor fashion choice (why not? people do it to me all the time)  I'll tell you why not because it's douchy, by hurting others you don't make yourself feel any better at all. Next time you see someone wearing an item they "shouldn't" ask yourself why you care?Does their choice affect you. Short answer: it doesn't. So don't do it.
I've always believed but only recently put into practice the idea "no one can make you feel bad without your permission"
If people are mean it's because society and the media have made them that way, we are bombarded with image of "perfection"  woman and men photo shopped and buffed and bronzed and plucked and quiffed within an inch of being human. Westernised ideals Are crazy and often unrealistic, and not something I want my babies growing up to aspire to.
There are better things you can be more worthwhile things than "pretty, acceptable, " how about generous? Or kind? Or clever!
Too fat, too thin.
Too old, too young.
Too tall, too short.
To black, too white.
To gay, too straight ".
Too too too too!
Who decides what you wear ?
Who decides how you feel?
Who gives you permission to like Yourself?
You do...
And you can be the change you want to see in others

Beehives, Brick lane and Besties

Today I went on a lady date with my best mate... Here she is

Isn't she a peach! We had an impromptu day out in London (LANDAN if you're us)

The morning started with me like this...

And wound up with me like this.,,

You're looking at about 2 cans of hairspray right there ! Standard procedure.

The dress is Lindy bop, the brooch Earstwilder (cute or what)  and the cats eye sunnys are from Camden.

So at ten we got to the train station

And were off!

Our first stop was somewhere I've wanted to go for years, Tate modern.
We saw some paintings that made us squeal with joy, (see below)

 And some great installation pieces

After poncing around and making art appreciation noises (in a middle class bohemian manner) We decided to jump on the tube

To shoreditch and Bricklane

As you can see it's suitably urban ;)
And the boutiques and market were crazy. Look at the haul!

The humming birds I couldn't leave they're exquisite! And I'll be buying lots more from this designer .

Then off on the tube again to our favourite place

Where we had a good mooch and people watched!

Obviously after all the excitement a drink was in order
Gin and rum!
Then another slow mooch back to the train station

It really was a perfect day, made all the more perfect as I spent it with my best chum.
